Does anyone answer these questions?
Exactly what does band 3 cover? I've had teeth extracted and an immediate temporary denture (front teeth) but now the dentist is saying that's all I get under band 3. I will not get the permanent denture unless I pay again. He says I signed a treatment form for this but its' not what he explained to me and I couldn't read the form I'm supposed to have signed.

I just had two front teeth out from a broken bridge . The dentist gave me an immediate temporary plastic denture with 3 teeth on, just until my gums had healed. I understood quite clearly from him that after that he would replace the temporary denture with a permanent one. They are now demanding payment and saying my treatment is finished and the temp denture is all I will get unless I pay another £198. Surely that can't be right? They didn't give me a copy of the treatment plan but were following one recommended by a dental specialist at hospital which clearly stated I need a chrome denture. The temp denture falls out when I open my mouth and because of other health problems makes my mouth raw. It was agreed that plastic wouldn't be suitable. The practice manager is now saying that I should have opted to go without front teeth at all until my guns had healed in 3 months then I would have got the proper denture and only the temporary non fitting thing is what I'm allowed.

If you divide the total NHS dental funding by the number of people in the country, it comes out as £40 per person per year.

No matter which way you look at it, £40 doesn't buy a lot when a surgery runs at £120 per hour and more.

Without massive increases in the total level of funding (very unlikely) there is no chance of comprehensive dental care under the NHS. The new scheme will just be another costly exercise in "re-arranging the deckchairs on the Titanic"

Well Mark maybe you should pay back the cost of your education to! oh yes and the Bankers, accountants, Lawyers, Entreperneurs, not forgetting the politicians. Of course dentists pay for their education they pay TAX like all of us! second thoughts perhaps you should be asking for a refund as your education was obviously flawed or at least lacking!

Dentists are under paid and undervalued, unless you are in pain when you expect immediate treatment! if we continue to pay them through this flawed UDA system only the good ones will only work privately and NHS customers will be reliant on imported overseas trained denitists, after all as with most things in life "you get what you pay for"

Oh and before you ask! no I am not a dentist or even in the industry! I am just a patient, my last word is clean you teeth and value them!

My NHS Dental Practise does not do Scale & Polish as part of the Band 1 fee as they state it is a cosmetic treatment & charge privately at £50. Do i have grounds to complain?

How much do porcelain inlays cost. Can i get these on the NHS?
As a private dentist is telling me it costs £900 that is very expensive or is this normal?

Thank you for any expert advice.

How about we let Dentists pick up the whole tab for their training if they are not going to work positively with the NHS?
