He was under the im pression that it would be white and didn't realise this until he came out and looked in the mirror, Although it isn't too noticeable as it is not one of the front teeth he is not very happy at all with the appearance. I have spoken to the dentist who informs me that he did tell my son it would be metal but I had one done two years ago at the same place and it was a white crown. He says now that if my sons wants a white one he will have to pay privately for this. Is there anything we can do? Would it be possible for him to build up the tooth, replace it with a white NHS Crown or possibly leave a temporary crown on which didn't look half as bad as the metal one. Thankyou for your reply. Don't leave until you are clear about what they are offering. Take a notepad and make sure the clinic see that you are writing down what they say. If you signed up as an NHS patient and they saw you on that basis then they should offer NHS treatment. If a crown is required then ...... that's what you should get. The clinic should not use their NHS patients just to get private work. White fillings are allowed on the NHS but only for front teeth.
